Frequently asked questions.
What ages do you work with?
I work with individuals ages 13+ for therapy services. Currently, I only see adults for psychological assessment/testing services. For minors, it is not uncommon to have a family component incorporated into sessions. I will work collaboratively with you and your family to determine the frequency and intensity of parental involvement on a case by case basis.
Do you only treat athletes with eating disorders?
No! The athlete eating disorder population is my most specialized area of expertise. However, I work with all individuals who struggle with eating disorders (e.g., Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder, Orthorexia), disordered eating, relative energy deficiency, unhealthy exercise, and body image issues. I also help athletes who do not experience disordered eating and only desire support for performance related issues. Furthermore, I am proficient in treating anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, identity issues, perfectionism, and trauma.
Do you take insurance?
Dr. Landis is credentialed with Aetna through Headway for therapy services in Florida ONLY. Dr. Landis does not take any other insurances at this time.
If you do not have Aetna for Florida, Harbor Counseling and Psychological Services is considered a self-pay/“out-of-network” provider. Therefore, clients are billed directly for services. However, you can submit a “Super Bill” to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Please know that submitting a super bill does NOT guarantee reimbursement and Harbor Counseling encourages you to check with your insurance company to confirm your benefits.
Additionally, limited reduced rate spots are available. Inquire if you believe you may be eligible.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
In compliance with the No Surprises Act, which has been effective since January 1, 2022, healthcare providers are required to notify clients of their federal rights and protections against unexpected charges related to medical or mental health care, aka “surprise billing."
The No Surprises Act requires that we inform clients who are either uninsured or who do not intend to submit claims to their insurance for partial reimbursement, both orally and in writing, of their federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by an out-of-network provider. This policy, and the subsequent receipt of a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services, does not apply to clients who opt to receive Superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.
If you qualify, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate from your provider, which will capture an estimated cost up to 12 months of therapeutic services, no later than 1-3 business days after your first appointment.
Major changes in your treatment plan (increased or decreased session frequency, or rate changes- assessed annually) will require a new GFE to be calculated and signed. In accordance with the No Surprises Act, if you receive a bill for services, that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate you can dispute the bill
Harbor Counseling and Psychological Services, LLC and does not participate with any insurance plan; therefore, is considered out-of-network providers. This means that clients must pay us directly for services rendered, and in most cases/if applicable to their specific plans, they are able to submit a claim to their insurance provider to obtain partial reimbursement for these services directly from the insurance company..
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate and this federal requirement, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
How does the therapy process work?
During the first session, we will get to know each other and establish treatment goals. The therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of therapeutic success, so we will take the time to create a comfortable space and dive into challenges at a pace that works for you! The duration of therapy is unique to each individual and their goals. However, we will routinely check in on your progress and need for continued sessions. Typically, individuals attend weekly sessions; however, they may taper down to less frequent sessions based on individual needs and progress.
